Native to our mid-western prairies, echinacea is a hardy perennial flower that is beautiful, deeply medicinal and her petals are edible as well! Butterflies flock to her bright blooms on long, strong 3+ foot stalks ideal for cutting. Once established, Echinacea will thrive without much care for years and their roots are easily divided to propagate more.

HISTORY: Echinacea purpurea, commonly known as purple coneflower, boasts a storied history deeply rooted in indigenous medicinal practices and has emerged as a prominent herb in Western herbalism. Native to North America, the Plains Indians, such as the Lakota and Dakota tribes, were among the first to utilize Echinacea purpurea for its reputed healing properties. They traditionally used the plant to address various ailments, including infections and wounds.

GROWING TIPS: Perennial. Transplant or direct seed. Full sun. 24-36 in. tall. All Echinaceas are drought-resistant. Keep young plants well weeded. A minimum of 7 days of stratification at 40 °F will enhance germination.
