PLANT DESCRIPTION: (Papaver somniferum) The Izmir Turkish Poppy is a relatively easy plant to grow, making it a great option for both beginner and experienced gardeners alike. It is a self-seeding variety, meaning that it will reseed itself in the garden and produce new plants year after year. It is a stunning addition to any garden, with its bright and bold blooms that are sure to catch the eye of any passerby.

HISTORY: The Izmir Turkish Poppy is a unique and beautiful variety of poppy that is native to the Izmir region of Turkey. It is known for its strikingly large and bright red-orange blooms, which are supported by strong and sturdy stems that can grow up to 2-3 feet tall. This poppy variety is a prolific bloomer, producing numerous large blooms throughout the growing season. It is a hardy plant that is well-suited for sunny, well-drained soil conditions, and can thrive in a variety of different climates.

GROWING TIPS: Annual. Germination: 60°F, light required. 6-10 days. Poppies do not like transplanting. Direct sow by surface sowing. As seedlings grow, thin to 24-36 inches apart
