Black Creaseback, or Ideal Market, is an excellent green bean. The climbing plants produce loads of 5-6 inch stringless pods with great flavor and a crunchy texture. They also produce early (55 days) and over a long season, and the pods keep well on the vines longer than others. This variety was first sold in 1914 as "Black Creaseback" in Mobile, Alabama, by Van Antwerp's Seed Store, and was reintroduced a decade later in New Orleans as "Reuter's Ideal Market" by Chris Reuter Seed Company. Our seed comes from our dear friends at Southern Exposure Seed Exchange.
