SEED SAVING PACKETS
30 packets
Make seed saving a part of your gardening experience. Our seed saving packets are printed on uncoated 50lb paper. The front has a panel for you to write the seed variety. The back is white, with enough room for you to write details about the seeds that you are saving. Our seed saving packets were illustrated by Kritch, a senior undergraduate student who has been a loyal member of our organization, since she was in high school.
Seed saving for home gardeners offers several advantages. By saving seeds, you can help preserve the genetic diversity of heirloom seeds, ensuring that they remain available for future generations.
Plants that have grown successfully in your garden are likely well-adapted to the local soil, climate, and environmental conditions. Saving seeds from these plants can lead to a selection of varieties that are increasingly resilient and better suited to your specific growing conditions, potentially leading to higher yields and more robust plants.
By saving seeds from a wide range of plants, you as a gardener can enhance the biodiversity of your garden. This diversity can make your garden more resilient to pests, diseases, and changing weather conditions, while also supporting a wider range of pollinators and beneficial insects.
The practice of seed saving is an excellent educational tool for all ages, teaching valuable lessons about plant biology, genetics, and the importance of biodiversity. It fosters a deeper connection to the food we grow and consume. Seed saving also enables you to share seeds with neighbors, friends, and community members. This sharing culture can strengthen community bonds, promote genetic diversity, and help spread knowledge and resources.
