Fragaria virginiana
Seeds per pack ~ 20

Virginia strawberry is the wild strawberry of eastern North America, thriving as far north as Alaska and Canada. Packing a delicious flavor into a small package, it's one of the first true delights of summer. It makes a great groundcover, and can establish itself among other plants (fruit trees, shrubs, perennial vegetables, ornamentals, etc) without harming them.
Definitely fruits best in full sun. Virginia strawberry was famously hybridized with a Chilean species (Fragaria chiloensis) in a French garden in the 1700s, and that led to the development of the modern domesticated garden strawberry (Fragaria x ananassa). Seedlings should be babied (kept free from weeds, kept well watered) until well established.
