TREE, CATALPA, Southern
Catalpa bignonioides
Seeds per pack ~ 40
Germination: 83% (Packed for 2024)
Native to the eastern US, this tree produces gorgeous white, orchid-like blossoms with gold and purple markings and a subtle, sweet scent. The tree is also known as "fish-bait tree", because it often attracts a certain caterpillar that makes good fish bait. Other people call this "string bean tree," for it's attractive long seed pods. Catalpas make truly lovely specimen trees in many a yard across the Southeast, Midwest, and mid-Atlantic.
