Golden Midget Watermelon Citrullus lanatus

Seeds per pack ~20

Germination: 82%  Sept 2025  (Packed for 2025)

Golden Midget Watermelon (Citrullus lanatus) is a unique and compact watermelon variety known for its early maturity, small size, and distinctive golden-yellow rind, with a sweet,  classic watermelon taste. Compact growth habits make it an excellent choice for home gardeners with limited space. It is quick to ripen compared to standard watermelons. Can be grown in large pots or raised beds.

Characteristics: The most striking feature is its bright golden-yellow rind when fully ripe, making it easy to identify at peak harvest time. Its size & shape is small, typically 3–5 lbs (1.4–2.3 kg), making it ideal for small gardens and container growing. The flesh is deep pink to red, sweet, and juicy with a crisp texture. Contains small black seeds.

Growing Information: Golden Midget is a fast-maturing watermelon, ready in about 70 days, making it one of the earliest watermelon varieties. Produces compact vines, reaching about 3–6 feet in length, making it more manageable compared to larger watermelon varieties. Don’t be alarmed by the leaves; some yellow foliage is normal for this variety.

Requires full sun for optimal growth. Prefers well-draining, fertile soil with a pH between 6.0 and 6.8. Watering needs are moderate to high—keep soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Plants should be spaced 2–3 feet apart in rows with at least 4–5 feet between rows.
